Join the Edmonton Recital Society for their presentation of New Orford String Quartet on Friday, May 13 at 7:30PM at Muttart Hall, 10050 MacDonald Drive NW

Four musicians with equally stellar pedigrees formed the New Orford String Quartet with the goal of developing a new model for a touring string quartet. Their concept – to bring four elite orchestral leaders together to perform chamber music at the highest level – has resulted in a quartet that maintains a remarkably fresh perspective while bringing a palpable sense of joy to each performance. The Toronto Star has described this outcome as “nothing short of electrifying.”

Winner of the 2017 JUNO Award for Best Chamber Music Album for their Brahms Op. 51 Quartets, the New Orford String Quartet consists of: Andrew Wan, Concertmaster of Montreal Symphony Orchestra (OSM); Jonathan Crow, Concertmaster of Toronto Symphony Orchestra; Sharon Wei, Professor of Viola at Western University in London, ON and founding member of JUNO Award-winning Ensemble Made in Canada; and Brian Manker, Principal Cello of Montreal Symphony Orchestra (OSM).
