Join Thousand Faces Festival for their presentation of CanNatyam: Classical Dance from November 4 - 6, 2022 at La Cité Francophone, 8627 Rue Marie-Anne Gaboury NW

CanNatyam offers performances by professional artists from across Canada in four distinct and enchanting styles, each originating from a different region of India. Curated by leading Bharatanatyam artist Malavika Venkatsubbaiah, CanNatyam is a special initiative for the Thousand Faces Festival’s tenth anniversary celebration. Complementing the two dates of performances will be suitable refreshments in the lobby of the theatre.

Dancer, choreographer, and an art educator, Malavika Venkatsubbaiah has transformed her passion for dance into a beautiful exploration of creative expression over the last two decades. Hailing from an acclaimed arts family, Malavika's dance journey began under the expert tutelage of Guru Dr. Lalitha Srinivasan at Nupura School of Bharathanatya - a premier dance institute specializing in the Mysore tradition of bharathanatya in Bengaluru, India. Malavika's dance is noted for its grace, fluidity and classicism which culminates in flawless poetry in motion. Her precise nritta, polished abhinaya and atttention to detail immediately entice and captivate the most educated critic and the uninitiated dance lover alike.
