Micheal Fournier is a woodworker and a furniture maker who was raised in the rural farming area of Deville/North Cooking Lake. General carpentry skills needed to maintain a farm soon led to complex tree forts and other larger projects.

Over his career Micheal has moved up from basic levels of construction trades to finishing carpentry, cabinet making, architectural millwork and veneer matching and pressing. This experience gave him a broad foundation all leading up to a furniture making apprenticeship at the Cotswold Studio in Edmonton, Alberta. Here he learned traditional joinery and furniture making techniques, design, client relations and daily business operations.

Experience over time has lead to a refinement in design that forgoes over embellishment relying instead on the subtlety of wood itself and its inherent beauty.  Micheal along with his wife was able to realize his dream of his own custom furniture workshop in the fall of 2016 by opening Walden Woodworks in the Strathearn neighbourhood of Edmonton, Alberta.
