Leanne Schnierer is a local landscape artist born and raised in Edmonton. Her artistic journey began by taking painting workshops to get a break from the challenges of being a new mother. This led to dabbling in watercolours and drawing pet portraits in graphite which she sold. After getting her Residential Interiors Certificate, Leanne realized that art and painting were the path she was destined for and she enrolled in the University of Alberta Faculty of Extension’s Fine Art Program which she finished in 2013. During her education Leanne was inspired by artists such as Ted Harrison, Vincent Van Gough and Lawren Harris and found acrylic and oil her mediums of choice. Leanne is particularly drawn to Edmonton’s river valley and skyline, the Rocky Mountains and the prairies in between. She infuses her compositions with bold saturated colour that is pronounced in all her works. “Colour stimulates emotion and emotion is my intent. I love how my work brings excitement and joy to it’s viewer.”
Leanne is continuously inspired from personal experiences, travels and childhood memories. Leanne is a member of the Society of Western Canadian Artists, The Night of Artists and The Canmore Art Guild and her work is found in Europe and across Canada.
