Wiz Wensel is a Canadian, contemporary, abstract painter and mixed media artist. Through her experimental handling of medium and audacious use of colour utilizing various tools and techniques, Wiz creates works of art that are expressive, energetic and vibrant.
Wiz studied at the University of Alberta, receiving her Bachelor of Fine Art in Art and Design and later attended the University of Saskatchewan’s Emma Lake Artists’ Workshop and retreat.
Her influences over the years have come from artists such as Jules Olitski, Dorothy Fratt, Jack Bush, William Perehudoff and Scott Plear. Wiz resides in the cooler climate of Western Canada. From this, the artist draws on her passion for travel, design, music and modern interiors as prime sources of endless inspiration, bringing in the warmth and vitality to her work that is the very essence of her being.
