Tix Artists at Art Walk on Whyte

Posted on: June 11 2021

The Art Walk on Whyte is back for 2021! They have moved indoors to the former Army & Navy building in Old Strathcona, where every weekend from June 11th to August 1st you can visit booths of local Edmonton and area visual artists. When you visit, make sure you stop by and take a look at some of the participating Tix on the Square artists who are featured below.

Karen Bishop
June 11-13 and July 9-11
Karen Bishop's work is not intended to be a faithful reproduction of the landscape before her. Instead, she paints by feel. The paintings that evoke the most emotions are those completed on location where she is able to allow her surroundings and the weather to dictate how the painting will turn out, trying not to worry about the ending, rather letting the painting unfold and track its own course across the paper.

Crystal Driedger
June 11-13 and July 9-11
Crystal Driedger's playful and charming original acrylic and oil paintings feature vibrant colours, enchanting textures and gentle, whimsical shapes. Often her pieces are hand-carved into soft basswood or are painted with thick, buttery strokes of rich oil paint. Some are intricate depictions of nature - botanical art and scientific illustration work. Many of Crystal’s pieces are inspired by memories and imaginings from a childhood spent in the forests and fields of her family farm. Her work is varied and vast from murals to tiny realism in coloured pencil, from enamel pins to large scale paintings of cows - her passion projects ebb and flow with her interests.

Leanne Schnierer
June 11-13 and July 9-11
Leanne Schnierer is a local landscape artist born and raised in Edmonton. Leanne is particularly drawn to Edmonton’s River Valley and skyline, the Rocky Mountains and the prairies in between. She infuses her compositions with bright, saturated colours, which results in unique landscapes that are energetic and bold. Leanne is continuously inspired from personal experiences, travels and childhood memories.

Lori Frank
June 25-27
Lori Frank is an Edmonton artist with over 30 years of experience. Frank is a fine, Impressionist artist that intentionally keeps realism in her paintings. Her works are created using bright colors as she wants to bring joy to all. Lori creates her paintings in a historical way with all of the subtle details to make them easily recognizable in her unique pointillist style. Her muse and creative subject for the last 8 years has been Edmonton and its river valley. She now has almost 60 paintings to choose from of her ongoing series of trails, stairways, and bridges leading to our valley.
